    Your mind can't tell individual frames apart over 20-25 fps and your eyes won't get tired when you get over 50 fps. You'll never get more fps than the monitor's refresh rate. A LCD does 60 Hz (60fps), my CRT does 100Hz@10x7. So when you get more than 100 fps on your video card you might just as well turn Vsync on, which'll give better image quality.
