Pirelli will risk the wrath of Formula One’s drivers when they reveal an embarrassing U-turn over the cause Sebastian Vettel’s spectacular tyre blowout in the Belgian Grand Prix.
Immediately after the race the tyre manufacturer blamed excessive tyre wear, caused by Ferrari’s “risky” strategy, but Telegraph Sport understands a full investigation has found the failure was caused by a cut to the tyre, likely from a piece of debris or one of the circuit’s curbs. |
