    Yep there’ll be penalties later in the year for going over the power unit limit, and there will be more limited scope for development as rebuilding the car will eat into their budget cap. We still won’t really know if Verstappen is at 100% until he steps into a car again either, a shunt like that can have a big psychological impact.

    If Lewis wins the title this year by less than 25 points it will be 100% thanks to the fact he punted Max off. If he wins it by less than about 40 points it will probably be in large part due to knock on effects of that move too.

    I find it mind boggling that a penalty that just meant he needed to be ten seconds faster over a race distance than a Ferrari that had basically been a midfield car this year to be guaranteed victory is in any way proportionate. It just encourages dirty tactics as they’re actually of far more benefit in the championship than even winning multiple races in a row fair and square like Max had done prior to Silverstone.
