@monkman76 think you've hit the nail on the head. Copse opens with tarmac run-off so there was still loads of room to make it around safely in P2 with all to play for, and plenty of time to make up for being 'forced wide'.
So basically any time a driver hits another driver from behind, regardless of how much room the leading driver left, as long as there was some tarmac somewhere the leading driver could have left the track onto to sacrifice their position, it's their fault? Do you realise how crazy that is? If that's the precedent then the second place driver just needn't ever bother braking in time for any corner and should always throw it down the inside, it will always be the leading driver's obligation to jump out of their way.

The racing line was on the apex of the corner. Max intentionally took a wide line to leave Lewis room, and he left two car widths of space, that's as generous as any racing driver could ever reasonably be. There are plenty of overlays out there that you can check, which show that Max left just as much space as Leclerc did. But Lewis didn't use that space and instead ploughed into him. Whether you think the penalty was harsh enough is one thing. But the absolutely bizarre logic to try to put the blame on Max for it is something I find mind boggling.

Glad to see he doesn't seem to be too shaken and the car seems to be functioning, so he's back at the top for practice at least. Hopefully we see a fair race on Sunday.
