Bit late, considering you have bought the Sigma, but I love my 70-200 f/4L (non IS). This Gannet in flight was taken with one, as were all of the other bird shots in the gallery from what I remember. The f/4 does hurt in low light though so the sigma probably is a better bet all in all. Regarding the Canon 70-200s, I think the f/4s are rated as sharper than the 2.8 (ignoring the new 2.8 II IS), and are significantly smaller and lighter, but you do miss out on the 2.8 greatness.
