I was watching the film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow last night and it was a great example of something that bugs me about films, Completely superfluous and unnecessary exposition.|
There is a scene where he's flying his plane and it shows him very clearly diving straight down towards the sea, then he hits the water and the plane turns into a submarine. There was no way I could see that you could not understand what had happened and yet the Paltrow woman managed to say,
"You're flying straight down!"
"We're under water!"
My question is, if they removed this ridiculous verbal hand holding from films are people really that stupid* that they'd get confused?
* I assume that's why it's there rather than any artistic reason.
