But that's how almost any STB or console is made now. Off the shelf chips from IBM, TI, Thompson, ST, etc. And all assembled in Shenzen or the like.

But you're right, no EU corp is going to shove what's essentially throwaway money into the void a la Microsoft. Mainly as Pace/Amstrad/etc. simply don't have, or won't let go of, the cash.
