While it probably never would have been a smash hit coming out exclusively on the Saturn at the end of its life, having only 6000 copies released by Sega in the EU (IIRC) was the main bottleneck. You only got a copy if you were lucky, and it's second hand value went through the roof as well limiting it to collectors only really. Who knows how well it would have done had a decent amount of copies been released, since it was critically acclaimed in the press.

I agree it's brilliant though, it came out at about the same time as FFVII and I think PDS was at least it's equal.
