    Well, the FCO advise against all travel to Iraq bar the area controlled by the Kurdish Regional Government. With good reason; immigration law defines the rest of it as being in a state of Internal Armed Conflict, kidnappings and suicide bombing still go on with alarming regularity. Wouldn't even want to go around the 'green zone' in Baghdad without a lot of security probably!

    KRG is a lot better but FCO still recommends against all but essential travel , risks still remain re kidnappings etc. You can technically even apply for a visa on arrival in The KRG I think.

    Still, Iraq has a shit load to see, loads of history! I gather that's not your primary concern though. Wouldn't it be easier to one up your mate by stealing his bird and asking her to marry you or something?
