Just chiming in for SNES. There's no contest. The MD has absolutely no equivalent of Link to the Past, a near perfect game and all time classic. Same goes for Super Metroid, the MD had nothing like it. SNES wins platformers easily. Mario World, Yoshi's Island, DKC2. Sure the MD has platformers but if you go back, none can hold a candle to the best of the SNES. Don't start with Sonic, it has nothing on the lasting value, ingenuity and creativity seen in the likes of SMW for example. Star road, Yoshi, the controls, not even worth comparing! The controller makes a mockery of the MD one, the 4 colour face buttons, d-pad, shoulder buttons, no one could contest that right? It's the blueprint still used for all controllers today. Sure the MD had a great range of arcade style games, but who wants to play arcade games for more than 10 minutes? SoR2 being possibly the only exception. There's a reason you get compilation discs with all the MD games on there. |
