Not to mention that they were knocked out relatively early in the domestic cups. So ironically, it's their failure in all competitions over the last couple of seasons - bar the PL this season obviously - that has resulted in them being successful in the league. They've had a free run at the PL this season with a few players in superb form, and, crucially, one world-class player at the peak of his powers - the missing element that usually turns a very good team into a great one.

Next season will be interesting. They'll certainly strengthen over the summer, but will Suarez still be there?
