That’s the most annoyed I’ve been in sometime about a result. Played really well by and large, but yet again, shambolic defending costing us. You can’t advocate for two of you back five being huge cowards. Lindelof routinely gets bullied, de Gea routinely bottles challenges/situations where he might get clattered. Maguire is a decent player with the right partner, evidenced by how he looks next to Bailly. Pairing him with Lindelof simply highlights all the flaws in his game. I genuinely couldn’t tell you what Lindelofs strengths are, he’s dreadful. Slow, no physicality, garbage in the air, can’t organise the backline. Time to give Henderson a run (who I’m not convinced by either), but given that de Gea has been costing us more points than he saved us in two years, there is nothing to lose. De Gea really was outstanding for 6 of the nearly 10 years he’s been here, but there is far too much evidence to suggest this is a steady decline rather than a dip in form. |
