    I'm starting to think that a midfield is only effective if they are built behind the right striker. As good as Van Persie is I don't think he suits a lone striker role and it fucks up our team. We need a striker who can stretch the pitch. Someone like Adebayor. Otherwise out general play suffers.

    I don't think this has surfaced as a problem because Van Persie keeps on scoring goals. But being a striker, particularly a lone striker, and particularly in our team, is more than about scoring goals.

    edit: i've not been following anything in this thread, just wanted to get that random musing down in writing
