    Immersion is attention.

The more a game is capable of attracting your attention for a longer period of time, the more immersive it is. To the extreme some games make you think about ingame aspects even when you are not playing and doing something else.

Anything that helps capturing your attention away to reality contributes to enhance the immersion factor. Sometimes it will be graphics, other times the story, or inventory management / looting aspects, other times it will be developing the right skills and training to beat reflex-based games.

We are all different, to an extent. Immersion will be partly subjective as well
