Get a Yurt. We did a two centre Glamping week in the Lakes last year.
Wasdale & Near Sawrey. Both are set on decent National Trust campsites.
Lots of easy going rambles close by.

Depends what you're after, personally I'd avoid the big tourist towns or traps. These will be gridlocked in high season.

Edale in the Peak District is good and accessible, 30 minutes from Manchester or Sheffield.

Northumbria is very remote compared to the Peaks and Lakes.

Snowdonia is alright, but a lot of driving if youwant to visit attractions, same as the Lakes really..

I'd recommend a two centre stay though, most places offer 3, 4 or 7 night bookings. I grew up in the Lakes and know them well. Let me know if you want any opinions on location.

My target for next year is a week touring the Cairngorms. Can't decide on May or October though.
