After a couple of years of suffering with 4G for home internet in our rural Somerset location (even though we're only a mile outside of a town that has Virgin/Openreach offering all the usual high-speed stuff, the only option here was copper Openreach with speeds of 2Mb average), we finally got FTTP installed. Previously it was 60Mb on a good day, but more often operating at 15Mb, dropping sometimes to 0.5Mb (which a restart of the 4G box usually sorted). Now we're 500Mb up and down which is a revelation. Of course, then I had to upgrade to a decent Orbi mesh system (not cheap) to actually get that 500 around the whole house, but: hey ho. Happy as a pig in shit now. |
