It may get renewed the 13 ep run has been extended to 22.

Despite selling a pretty high sci-fi concept, the masses have fallen in love with J.J. Abrams' latest brainchild Revolution, which has carried NBC to some record viewership the past few weeks. To that end, there's some good news to share.

No, it's not an outright renewal—but according to Deadline, the network has been impressed enough to go ahead and extend the 13-episode order to a full season, which likely means around an additional nine episodes to round things out with about 22 total episodes in season one.

The sci-fi series, set in a swashbuckling future world without electricity, broke recent ratings records with its premiere. The series as a whole has averaged a 3.6 rating/9 share in adults 18-49, and 9.8 million viewers in Live+Same Day, which are pretty darn good numbers.

NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said the show has exceeded expectations, and the network wants to give the writers enough lead-time to see what they can do with a few more weeks:

"We're impressed with the imagination and creative direction of the entire team on Revolution, not to mention the immediately strong response we got from the audience."
