    The events don't vary, but the characters and their motivations do. And the motivations of characters are what turns a series of events into a plot.

    Tuchanka is quite different with and without Maelon's data. Without it Shepard is working to regain the trust of a friend who considers that he has betrayed him. With it, Shepard is working with a close friend for the betterment of his people.

    Subtle variation, big difference.

    The ending has none of that, because there are no characters or motivations in the ending.
