Quick question:

When booting up games on my PC these past two weeks, once the game loads in I seem to get about 5-10 seconds of game play freezing or severe slowdown, after which everything runs perfectly fine. What could be causing this?

I haven't changed any components, but the weird behaviour seems to have coincided with a new Windows update a couple of weeks ago, plus there's been a couple of NVIDIA updates (Game Ready Drivers for Halo Reach and Mechwarrior 5).

This weird freezing/slowdown doesn't happen with applications I use for work, like Photoshop or InDesign or basic MS Office packages, just games it seems.

Any ideas where I should be looking to fix it?
