Keep in mind there is not 'set' one objective. To rally everyone to think the same mindset to achieve just one specific thing is pretty darn hard to do, especially when various people have various motivations. Again, it isn't a hive mind, but a conglomerate of people sharing a similar goal, using the tag as a lever to be heard.

As a previous post said, the tag is being used because then people listen, since before people generally just ignored you with "Aww how sweet he doesn't like this site, moving on."

Interesting written thingy from an indie dev http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sakrnh
Take of it what you will.
That doesn't answer anything, though. I still don't know what these sites have done and how you're going to achieve this. Games journalism already follows the exact same rules as other journalism - i.e none, other than the law. Also, we've seen actual newspapers breaking the law plenty of times, but what laws have been broken in games journalism?

What can you do about it other than simply not read the sites you don't like? Why do you care? Surely it's enough to say "I like this site's views on gaming, so this is the site I will use to get my gaming news".
