    Few women apply for these positions because they have a lower chance of being successful.

    There was a study where business owners were presented with an assortment of dummy CVs. For each one there were 2 versions, the only difference being the sex of the candidate. Each employer only ever saw one of this pair. It was discovered that women candidates were selected less often. Even more striking was that the female candidate's chances were even poorer when the employer was female.

    Women who venture into places that used to be the domain of men do get judged unfairly. Their credentials are often scrutinized more deeply.
