Yeah, you're good to go. It's exactly what I did. You can finish 46 and continue with whatever you were doing before (with some cool new kit/perks). It will also unlock more sides, so definitely worth doing, IMO.

Edit: It's "an ending" but not "The End" in the sense that you can continue to play / mop up. As I say, new stuff unlocks.
