I didn't have my base maxed when I completed 46. I noticed that I had to listen to the yellow tapes, and either do one or two side ops or simply go back to MB to trigger the next cutscene and therefore open a new mission.

Despite what I said before about taking a break I booted the game up last night, and did a few side ops. I don't know it's either me being too comfortable with the game or being over-geared, but I found them all very easy - storm in with a grenade launcher, obtain/fulton whatever I need, done.

I'm aware the new/recycled missions add some difficulty by means of "no alerts" and stuff like that but I prefer not to see a game over screen simply because an enemy saw me - part of the appeal of 5 is the fact you can still recover even if you're discovered, and figuring that out has been one of the most rewarding game elements to me.
    It's weird, innit?

By the time I was ready for 46, all bases are belong to me and I had done all the sides I had available except the MB target ones. For me, it was yellow tapes and not even all of them. Just enough to crush my soul.
