    There are obviously a lot of gems out there -- something sentimental like "Wand‚furu raifu" totally floats my boat for example. But I see plenty of indie films that are happy to slide us down the intellectual pole that get hailed as masterpieces. Drive is a great example seeing as it's being discussed in this thread. "Just" violence -- check. Objectified female -- check. Hell, even an objectified male. But why is it so adored? Cos it's got a bangin' soundtrack and some wicked cinematography.

    I'm not above any of this, by the way! I am equally spellbound by Drive.
