Okay, so to compare it to something I've actually played, and was crap at, and hated, and gave up on quite quickly because life's too short: is it like Ninja Gaiden?

EDIT: by which I mean, ridiculously punishing, and the sort of thing that 'Gamers with a capital G' rave about because "if you die it's always your fault" when what they mean is "if you die it's because you've not got time to spend 5 hours a day or more playing the same boss over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again."

    ?

See this is the problem with the reputation the souls games have (unfairly imo) been saddled with. People are put off experiencing some of the most captivating games ever made because of their supposed difficulty. It's partly just hyperbole, and for the people who haven't played them it has no context so it's misinterpreted, and becomes this overblown thing that keeps them from even trying the games for themselves.

Bloodborne is arguably the least difficult of the souls games (DLC aside), but the way I see it that's kind of beside the point anyway. It also has the best story, the most interesting lore and the most engaging setting (all imho of course), and if you find yourself sucked in the difficulty shouldn't be an issue.

At least at that point it's no longer this unfamiliar and misunderstood thing you kept at arms length because of its undeserved reputation, it's yours to experience and either fall in love with or die trying, but either way at least give it a chance.

If you get stuck on a boss (and there really are only a few where there's any real danger of that) there are always ways to swing the odds in your favour, or alternative strategies to try. It's really not as hard as you think, it's just not as forgiving as most modern games that's all, but that just makes it all the more rewarding.

Edit: Basically my point is this: you'll love going back through an area because you fucked up, or the run back to the boss you haven't quite got the hang of yet, because you'll love every moment you spend in the game's world. If you don't then it's not for you, but like I said at least find out for yourself.
