@Phattso Got it in the end! I had to cancel with box.co.uk as they just kept dicking me about with the lead times, pushing it back a week at the last minute a few times. I noticed laptops direct had them in so I bought it and it turned up the next day (last Thursday). Now I see most companies have it in stock expect box haha Firstly - I looks absolutely stunning - the RGB is beautiful on it, I’m at 33% brightness and it still pops. I haven’t messed with the features yet, just kept it on rainbow but it looks extensive. The screen is phenomenal - been playing Resi 2 mostly and the graphics are jaw dropping. Whilst the fans do kick in, it’s still pretty playable without headphones - you don’t take notice after a while. The speakers are far and away the best I have experienced on a laptop. I can happily listen to Spotify all day no problem, so no real need to invest in speakers IMO (unless you want to treat it as a sound system). It doesn’t run too hot either - I ran timespy (scored over 10,000) a couple of times and the CPUs max temp reached just under 84 deg whilst the GPU was about 74 which I think is pretty good for a laptop. The keyboard gets a bit warm but don’t they all. I love how you can open it one handed also, little things like that go a long way for me. Bad points, there are a couple but no deal breakers. The interior is pretty smudgy and tough to get your fingerprints off without getting hold of a slightly damp cloth which is a shame. I’m not sure if it’s windows or the laptop itself but I can’t seem to make it go into sleep mode. There’s an Fn button that says Zzz, I press that and it looks like it’ll turn off then it will just go into the Lock Screen. Also tried using the power button but does the same thing. I’ve also noticed the armoury crate app is sometimes sluggish to start, so when it boots up, it usually goes to the fan profile you had last such as silent or turbo but this morning I booted it up and it was just in windows mode for a few minutes before switching to silent. Switching fan profiles is a little slow too when you press the fan button on the keyboard, takes about 3-4 seconds to cycle through each one. Being new to laptop gaming, I don’t like flicking through fan profiles when I’m gaming then flicking back when I’m not, there’s probably a feature where you can set it to switch automatically but I haven’t looked. The estimated time left on battery power goes all over the place too, sometimes it says 1hr 30 then next it’s 10hrs. I don’t know if that’s kinda what all laptops are like however. There is a great feature though on the MyAsus app where you can maximise the life of the battery by capping it to either 60 or 80 percent which I find very good (this is probably a feature everyone knows of but I’m new to it) So, wrapping it up, I’ve mentioned all the little niggles but most can be addressed with an update of some sort. Other than that - a superb laptop. One which I expect to keep for a very long time |
