So, couple of things - the film cover on my batteries is starting to tear.

    - Why is this dangerous exactly?
    - Where can I buy new covers?
Yeah, pop the ones with tears to one side and try to avoid using them.
Head over to Ebay or Amazon and just search "18650 battery wrap"
Usually you can get a pack of 5 for a couple of pounds.
Lots of different colours, but that's just a personal preference thing. The colours don't mean anything, you can get some kinda funky "Marvel" themed ones if you really like. :)

Good quality batteries and good care of those batteries is a really big and important thing.
Generally it seems most of these "explody" stories are due to either unregulated mod's (the ones with enclosed batteries) that are over used and running hot or 18650 mods that regulate the power but have shitting 18650's that haven't been looked after correctly.

Any nicks or tears on the wraps, whip them off straight away and replace them immediately. It's a piece of piss and you only need a hairdryer to wrap a battery, I've seen retards doing it with a blow torch... a hairdryer is 100% fine.
And if you have spare batteries you like to carry around to prolong your vape time whilst out and about, buy a little plastic case to carry them around in. again, Ebay or amazon "18650 Case".
If you buy new batteries almost all decent options will come with a little case. Use this all the time. Don't have batteries lose in your pockets. They will go bang.

It's been a thing for a while now, since these explody stories have started appearing the manufacturers have been putting "Battery Care" advisory notes in the packaging/boxes of any new mods.
Look after your battery and your battery will look after you. :)
