You are more or less saying that you'd prefer to play a buggy/shonky game (with numerous patches) than an oft masterfully polished one, no? Anyhow, I have finished Transistor which I purchased full price last September and had left it alone ever since until it was available as part of one of three games on PS+ this month, therefore I told myself that now is a good time as any to get cracking on with it! I am very glad I did as it may well be my favourite game I have played so far this year; the beautiful art style, the wonderful music/soundtrack, the surprisingly and ever increasingly depth of the combat, the way the story is narrated through the speaker on the pad and the ending ... what an ending indeed, and one that I did not foresee happening. Despite my overwhelmingly postive feeling towards the game, I could not help but feel that the story, whilst nicely concluded, still had scope for other characters side stories and the how's and why's of the CloudBank city itself. Towards the end, I felt that some questions were left unanswered. ... and we never heard the mans joke either, which he said he'll tell us 'later'. As soon as I finished the story, I went straight into the new game plus mode, which I very rarely do nowadays, and continued Red's second adventure with all the moves she learned along the way through her first journey. I have already 'picked up' on some of the dialogue I missed first time round too. A part of me thinks an 8 but the other a 9 purely for how mischievously different it is on the surface of things. Yeah, a 9/10 suits it fine, especially coming from Bastion, which is also a brilliant (debut) game as well. Edited by CharlieStCloud at 22:21:00 23-02-2015 |
