Horizon Zero Dawn: Great combat, decent story (although the backstory was far more compelling than the events you actually play through), amazing world but same old dull open world activities and predictable missions. 7.5/10 The Talos Principle: Great puzzles with interesting atmosphere and story (if you can be bothered to read terminals for hours on end). Puzzle difficulty was a bit erratic though. Didn't reach the heights of The Witness in terms of puzzles or Portal in terms of character, but still decent. 7/10 Prey: The option to travel outside added to the setting and atmosphere. The loading times between areas made backtracking a chore. Story/characters weren't very compelling but the gameplay and the joy of exploring kept me hooked. 8/10 Rime: Beautiful visuals and soundtrack. Would have been greatly improved by more responsive controls. Length was just right - any longer and it would have overstayed its welcome. 6.5/10 |
