Battle Chasers Night War (PS4)

A nice surprise, this. The main draw for me was the JRPG style turn based combat, which is deep enough to be satisfying throughout the game. Between the choice of party members and the ability to re-spec each character using perks there are all kinds of interesting combos to be set up.

Then that's wrapped up in a Diablo like structure where you run procedural dungeons multiple times in search of loot etc. There is an overworld but it's small with just one hub town and all the dungeons are easy to reach. This makes it much easier to dip into than your usual sprawling JRPG world.

I have no idea what battle chasers are or the night war is about, but the story is easily ignored. I found out later this was Kickstarted (it's the team that did Darksiders) which is also impressive given it feels so complete and polished.
