Final Fantasy XV Was not expecting much from this. I'm a huge fan of the series, and although I liked FFXIII, I felt it really lacked the charm and heart of the preceding FF games. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The battle system was straight-forward but satisfyingly complex and deep. It struck the right balance between action and strategy IMO and I liked the additional trinkets such as Royal Arms and Techniques. Don't usually like open world games but something about Eos just ... worked. The side quests were standard tedious fare, but hunts were usually varied and challenging, and the landscapes were impressive enough to make traversing the world enjoyable for most the part. The story is utter nonsense, much like FFXIII, and although I liked the main characters, they are all largely one dimensional (would be very interested in knowing why story has been so extremely poor in FFXIII and FFXV when compared to more or less all past FF main series games). Overall, though, I would say FFXV is well worthwhile. It's just charming enough, deceptively deep and very compulsive. I'm almost tempted to get into the DLC. 8/10 Edited by CitizenGeek at 23:16:59 28-08-2018 |
