God of War(ps4): 8 I loved the storytelling(the plot itself is simple enough) but felt that it really needed a lot more enemy variety and less of those undead thingies. In older games it definitely was worse but they were cannon fodder. I also felt that aside from a couple puzzles they were less engaging then god of war 3 or ascension. Combat opens up a bit too late and death feels cheap in the early to mid game, the 30 fps, slow camera when more then a couple enemies show up hamper it even further. The loot system is pretty badly designed with armour levels dominating your decisions till late game. Most armour sets are useless and side mission content aside from some cool stories, were pretty standard. The sidequest are also dominated by repeated caves and mine shafts making the visuals a bit boring. The overall desig of the world itself is amazing though. Overall I still love this game but dont feel it deserves its high praise by most critics. |
