Plagues Tale - Innocence Was totally unaware of this one, but took a closer look recently. Realising its by Asobo Studios, who beyond the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator hadn't really done anything of note since the racing game FUEL back in the day.. my expectations on their first attempt at a story driven 3rd person adventure were low. Didn't start off that well either, tired, basic stealth done a 1,000 times before didn't set my world on fire but I carried on.. mainly because of the interesting story and surprisingly top notch graphics. ...Then new systems and dynamics were added, nothing too taxing, but simple almost Zelda inspired puzzles, basic teamwork reminding me of the likes of Ico and Two Brothers, combined with a animation and story telling not a million miles from the output of Naughty Dog. Result, fantastic stuff. One of the best single player games I've played in a long time. There's definitely some chunkiness and the last boss (as impressive and memorable as it was) needs firing into the sun, but the rest of it was brilliant. Reminded me of Escape from Butcher bay of all things by Starbreeze. Just with just how a developer took something relatively new and absolutely smashed it out of the park.
