I wonder if these people with traffic woes have actually used busses and trains. I effectively made a bus station by placing a bunch of parallel roads. All bus lines converge on this point. It's always BUStling with activity. I can make big decentralized zones and be happy that workers can get there. I like to watch a worker catch a bus to the bus station and change lines to hit an out of town industrial site. Putting rail cargo depots next to industrial centers took about 80% of the trucks off the roads. Passenger rail helps too but you may want to keep freight and passenger rail lines separated for the most part. You can reduce rail congestion by reducing rail funding so that fewer trains are spawned. |
