It's reportedly the 'final' season, and the author has some hand in curtailing the story into what it's become given the manga fell away in ratings also, according to rumours. Hence the rush to a conclusion come what may.

Actually read the manga up to a point (because it was so intriguing) and yeah, it's a shame. But even the manga loses its way after trying to wrap up the various threads.

And in such a stacked season, it hasn't really been an issue..... everyone prefers Mushoku Tensei anyhoo.
