@anti-Shinra What do you mean double the price? Zelda has always been between £40 and £50. If you mean double the price of Horizon, that's because people expect Horizon to go down in price. Most publishers discount their games over time to compensate for flagging sales and consumers know this. Nobody expects Nintendo games to go down in price though. And unfortunately for you it would appear that most consumers are ok with this as Zelda, Mario Kart and Mario Odyssey are all multi-million selling titles that have been hanging around the top 20 since they released.
When it comes to sales, Nintendo games generally have the longest tails in the industry (except the GTA games). Sales don't drop off all that much and many of their games will loiter around in the charts for years. From a business perspective they'd be mad to discount these games as they'd sacrifice their long term gains for a small boost in sales. Consumers will start waiting for sales.
You could also argue that the most expensive games on shop shelves are the most desirable ones. If you see a game for £40, it's either new, very rare or likely to be of high quality. I wouldn't be surprised if that makes a game more appealing to the average consumer.
Well, that's retarded.
"That game costs more than other games, so I'm gonna buy that one!"
Yeah, nothing gets me going while shopping than paying more money for content.
Well, looks like I'm settling in for tonight as you all take turns in defending shitty business practices because its Nintendo. |
