    With Gunn's older work perhaps. Not so much with Guardians. We've already had another director's take on the Guardians in Infinity War, and that worked fine.
    A whole movie is a bit different to a 20 minute segment.

    And then there's the whole thorny issue of 'omg, Ron Howards Awesome Mix 3 sucks balls'.
    Sure it's different, but it's still some evidence that the Guardian's formula could be replicated.

    Plus, changes in tone/direction for the third film aren't exactly uncommon (Thor 3/Iron Man 3).

    But I do get the point that the Guardians are Gunn's baby. We should just be happy they're making decent superhero films in the first place.
