There’s a lot of vetting involved too. You can’t just make up stories. You need to hand the investigators evidence to back up your claims.

And yes, a smaller crime can be excused if it helps stop a bigger, more threatening crime. Like the crime still in progress if Trump got elected with foreign aid.

The cynical part of me suspects that Cohen is only singing like a bird without anyone even asking, is Pecker’s safe. Any evidence that Cohen would’ve had is in there too, rapidly making him less valuable.
