Interesting division this film has caused..

I enjoyed it for what it's worth. I have no counter to all the complaints about plot points, and general criticisms, they all seem valid to me, as does the RLM breakdown. I just suspect that if we applied that degree of critical thinking to the entire franchise it would come up short.

I think the film has some of the best moments evs so far; I really enjoyed the Ren/Snoke/Rey scenes and the uncertainty of how the characters might behave, I also loved the visuals of the end battle on the salty planet.

The whole casino section was unnecessary. It felt like it was straight out of the phantom menace and added time which made it feel like the film dragged.

The other stuff tying the weak and strong points together was all of a higher quality than the prequels with regard to character development and acting.

I think I'll probably enjoy it more on repeated viewings (where as I enjoyed Rogue 1 less with a repeat viewing) and in time I suspect opinion on it will change once the third film is released and its place in the trilogy is fully appreciated.
