What class are you playing? I really didn't get on with the first medic rifle as the 2nd and 3rd shot accuracy seemed to be pretty poor unless you staggered your shots a fair amount.
The later medic guns are brilliant, though, and did much better once I'd unlocked them (which doesn't take that long).
