I think internet mobs are relevant because they are a thing, and when coupled with the increasingly common attitude that free speech is protected so long as there are no legal repercussions, it's not a good mix. |
I suppose I don't have too much of a problem when it's used to combat genuine racists but when it's used in those grey area cases it's concerning. and I worry about the wider chilling effect it could have on free speech. Because what about when the mob is wrong but still has the power to set the parameters of what is acceptable?
