The fact most of the fans are teenagers as well makes it even harder to properly sanction. They will happily follow their preferred star to the ends of the earth. Youtube and twitch stars have this unearned reputation of being untainted when they are more open to temptation than almost any major industry before. There are no controls in place to prevent it, most of the stars have no experience dealing with business chicanery and the dream for most is to get that sponsership so they can live off their videos. The fact some of them are taking advantage of this is galling in the extreme. |
