Haven't been posting in this thread all year but, after trying it last year and ending up with about 19 games done (finishing Breath of the Wild made me not want to play anything else again for ages) which for me is a great improvement on finishing games I gave it another go this year and kept track myself to see what I could do.

Got off to a pretty good start with 3 game completions in the first week, think that helped make me think I could actually do it so just kept it up from there. Some of them might seem a little cheap, like counting Into the Breach as "completed" after one victory and some of the smaller dlcs on there, but I think it balances out with some of the big time sinks I did, like getting to Pirate Legend in Sea of Thieves and completing the Kanto Pokedex in Pokemon Go (something I've been working towards since the game first came out 2 and a half years ago).

I'm pretty pleased with how many of these are 100% completions as well, never used to bother going for that even in my absolute favourite games so getting a few full completions is nice for me. Also completed some full series of games. I'd been interested to try the Steamworld games for ages so finally did and really loved them, so much so that I completed all 3 games in just a few weeks. Also, after playing through all the 2D Metroid games last year I played through the last two Metroid 3D games that I hadn't played yet, Hunters and Federation Force so have now finished every Metroid game. You hear that Nintendo? I need MP4 now please!

Overall it was pretty fun and definitely helped push me towards actually finishing the games I started, especially as we got closer and closer to the end of the year. I did play some smaller games that I'd been meaning to play for ages just because they'd help me reach the 52 target as well so that was good. I do think it put me off playing some bigger games though if I didn't think I could finish them in a decent time. So next year I'm going to do the opposite and see if I can finish some of the bigger games that I want to play through (Fallout 4, FF XV, Persona 5, etc) and also catch up on some franchises I've fallen behind on (Assassin's Creed mainly) and not worry about how many I actually complete.
