Yes, the writing is horrendously bad. If you get past the Merlin/ Robin Hood/ CBBC- esque production values and all-round awfulness, it does gradually become more engrossing as it goes along. In a sort of 'Is it finished yet' kind of way. The 'comic' moments in themselves are mildly amusing, yet it's the unintentional humour found in the casting that steals the show. Gareth from the Office, Zoe Wannamaker saying "Shit & Piss" a lot and the cringe-worthy 'acting' from the lead girl, who cannot do crying....at all. It's like she's bitten into a lemon...terrible. We'll also forgive this erm 'stylized' rendition its uncanny knack of mistaking druids for shamans, amongst other things. But in summary, it's probably still the best thing churned out by Sky in years, if only to show the gulf between US and British productions  |
