I can't imagine anyone sticking around for the weekly hilarity, but having binge-watched it it gets a solid 5/10, if only for its improvement in the second half of the series. With the girl generally still not being able to act, even being outdone by a blind Geordie- the erm 'heavy hitters' up their game somewhat near the end with some credible turns. Zoe Wannamaker and Gareth from The Office are still crap though, sadly. Overall the best acting throughout the series was by the Emperor, albeit the brief scenes he was in. A spectacularly average offering by Sky, and a missed opportunity for sure. Perhaps for series 2 they ought to hire someone other than 'award-winning' Jez Butterworth to pen the dialogue. It'd improve the show no end  |
