After waiting over a day between ordering and having my account activated I can give some initial impressions on this - I didn't go for the Shadow Box - I thought it best to try this out on my existing hardware and if all works well then maybe go for the box with a full year sub (I've only gone for a month to minimise my risk). So far I've tried it on my Macbook Air and GPD Win. First issue - the Windows installation process was in French. I managed to get by with the Google Translate app on my phone but some my find this a bit of a ballache than others. Managed to get through it though and finally found the setting to change most of it to English. Installed Steam, Origin and Battle.net and decided to jump in with one of my most demanding games - Witcher 3 - on the GPD Win. I was quite impressed with how well it ran. Bearing in mind that the GDP Win is an extremely underpowered handheld PC (a purchase which I've regretted until now). I set all graphic settings to max but set the resolution to 720p which is the native resolution of the GDPWin. Everything seemed to run smoothly apart from the occasional noticeable input lag. In any case it was 100% playable and quite astonishing to have a full quality version of The Witcher 3 running on a machine with identical dimensions to a 3DS XL. The built in joypad helped too. I plan to try out a few more titles later today but so far so good. BTW - I'm on a Virgin 100mb connection. This might have helped with the experience so YMMV. |
