    So it's King of Comedy gone super dark. I'm intrigued as to the time period. Gut says 1970s. Which is actually a very good setting and the one I'd choose after the 40s - Joker has always worked well in a post-war depression setting.

    I know there are Joker purists who say the character doesn't need to be explored but I think it's very ripe for exploration - particularly the mental health aspect. I always felt Jack Nicholson was a massive missed opportunity given Cuckoo's Nest and Shining.

    Catwoman and Riddler would be my next two picks to delve into. I'd even go as far as to make Riddler a far right terrorist and not shy away from how society creates these monsters
