I took that General out there and then before moving on, though it's optional if you want to move on and go back later. Like you, I didn't get it him first time, but eventually took him out. Make sure you take off one of his health bars via stealth attack first, if you screw up and he's still got two bars there's a Sculptors Idol just past that area on the cliff edge to rest and try again.
I actually farmed the enemies in that area for a bit for both Skill XP and gold before moving on, given how close you can reset them. You can get a nice run of stealth kills on those lot, just be sure to take out the guy up on the wall who can alert other enemies by hitting his little gong thing. I took him out second after the guy walking toward the stairs.

I believe Rivuzu posted some tips earlier, basically i think it was if he holds his sword up before he goes unblockable it'll be a sweep (jump), to the side it'll be a thrust (parry, or that fancy dodge counter if you have it) and look out for his uppercut attack (side dodge).
Get the idol on the other side below the broken bridge, make sure you take out the alarm dude. The guy next to the general is the hardest to get to, but you can lure him with a ceramic shard. Stealth everybody, stealth attack the general for one dot and then good luck.
Cheers both for the tips! |
