I'm just trying to pluck up the courage to drop down and take on Guardian Ape; it's gating my progress as I've done pretty much everything else I can in the game except ghostly types like o'rin of the water and the various headless dotted around.

Is Guardian Ape tougher than e.g. Genichiro?. I found him tough but fair and cracked him after about 15 tries.

From what I've seen in vids it looks like it's not an enjoyable prospect...
