@gamingdave but why do it now? Why not for all the other times something like this has happened?

A girl was seen crying after a football game. Who gives a shit?
Why raise money for cancer when there are homeless people? Why highlight racial injustices when nurses don't get paid enough? Why do anything, ever?

Is he expected to make a page for every injustice in the world?

It's not like he's made this his life's work, it seems it was a reaction to the vile content Stan Collymore highlighted, simple as that. If he had raised £50 no-one would have battered an eyelid, but as it has grown he's then had to stand his ground against a torrent of abuse.

If you'd looked it should be obvious it wasn't because she was crying, it was the disgusting online abuse some "England fans" were dishing out. He was trying to do something that would be a counter to that, a small gesture to show we aren't all cunts.

I know this is EG and I have been around long enough to get the humour. But there is enough bemoaning (rightly) the brexit side of Britain, the moronic twats who make us all look bad in the eyes of the rest of the world. The ones who go on holiday in Spain to drink shit lager and watch Eastenders in an English pub. The "England fans" who travel abroad and whilst the minority, cause enough embarrassment for us to rightly be critical of their behaviour. The ones who boo taking the knee and other nations national anthems, and call a little girl a nazi.

Someone does something that attempts to counter that and instead of looking for any positives, the collective decision is that it's only because he's a nonce. Literally siding with the people who dished out the original abuse, and the have been abusive since (both on Twitter and on here).

Slightly misguided to start the page without knowing the family? Perhaps. But it's not the first time someone has tried to do something for others without being directly connected, happens all the time.
